Community Development Workers
By providing culturally competent services to people that are in housing and health crises, Ashram is able to support people to improve their mental and physical well-being. These services are key to enabling people to live independently in their own homes and communities.
Ashram’s Families and Communities services provide support to people in the community as well as providing accommodation based services for those who are in need of this form of support.
The accommodation based services at Nissa Ashram, Jyoti Ashram and Maple Court continue to support South Asian women, however the floating support extends to all members of the community, including children, young people and men.
Community Development Worker Stephen Lewis edits Barbershop Magazine, a publication exploring issues of mental health amongst BME men. CDWs Jazz Kainth and Baljit regularly put on mental health events and support groups at Bosworth Drive. Gurjit Kaur runs a support group for carers who may experience isolation and depression.
Call 0300 111 7000 to speak to a CDW or click on one of the flyers below to find just some information about what Ashram offers.
