Users of Ashram's mental health services are encouraged to take an active role in shaping and running the services. This applies equally to our accommodation based schemes and our work in communities. Service users work along side staff on a day-to-day basis, making decisions about the environment and activities within the services. This forms part of the individual recovery plan for people as they regain skills such as cooking, budgeting, housekeeping and socialising.

The crisis and respite provision looks at targeting individuals that are in a crisis situation and in need of emergency accommodation, but who can benefit from treatment by health professionals outside of a hospital setting. The aim is to reduce hospital admissions, to stabilise medication and to alleviate the 'revolving door' syndrome. The respite unit relieves some of the pressures faced by families and carers.
