Young People Services
We have over 30 years experience working with Care Leavers in Birmingham. Through delivering a quality housing related support service (assessed as Level A in terms of quality) the service aims to address the inequalities faced by Care Leavers in Birmingham. Across three projects, we meet the needs of young people living in our supported housing schemes by providing a support service that encompasses the following support:

  • Access to medical healthcare
  • Access to education, employment and training
  • Access to longer term suitable accommodation.

The service takes a person-centred approach to discovering needs and aspirations of the young person and then provides a wraparound support service relying on key workers to identify external services that can enhance the core housing related support service that is delivered.

Working Together
The Working Together project aims to increase the employability of 2,800 long-term unemployed people in the Black Country over the next three years. The project is based on individual need and puts unemployed people in touch with local training providers, who will help them to develop the skills they need to get back into work. Two 'Community Connectors', who have first-hand experience of being unemployed, work in the community to promote the project. For more information, call Dawn (Community Connector for Tipton and Dudley) on 07977 426586, or call Sarah (Community Connector for Bilston East and Darlaston South) on 07713 313240.

Our opportunities are flexible in approach and can fit around your schedule and availability.

Accord have two Resident Panels. The Complaints & Communication Panel are a group of resident who act as a designated person as part of the complaints process. They scrutinise and support Accord in continually learning from and improving the complaints process. They also look at communication methods to ensure that they are relevant, customer focused and customer friendly.

The Scrutiny Panel have a formal role in influencing performance and service delivery by scrutinising the work we do. The Panel help drive continuous improvement. Presently the Scrutiny Panel are beginning scrutiny of elements of the repairs service. ·

Both Panels are independent, resident led and hold Accord to account on behalf of residents.

The Engagement Team also support Resident Groups both to set up and develop – we aim not to lead but to enable and empower residents and work together to improve neighbourhoods.

Accord also supports a network of Community Champions who report to the Engagement Team on a range of local subjects including local services and environmental issues.

Accord residents have also attended numerous events where they have had opportunities to speak to Housing Ministers, Councillors and leaders from local, regional and national housing groups and campaigns.

If you are interested in any of the above opportunities or going onto our communication database where we can reach out to you when something relevant is happening please email Info.CD@accordgroup.org.uk or telephone Peter Helly on 07702554437 for an informal chat.
